Hello, Fellow Runners!
I'm so excited to be back with you! It's been FOREVER since I've blogged, but hopefully I can get back into the habit! Let me take a bit to explain my hiatus.
If you're a long-time follower of the blog, I've been fairly open with not being happy at my job. In February, late one night, I had an epiphany, and decided to become a teacher. It's a long story of how it came to be, but it finally hit me like a brick wall. I'm supposed to be a teacher. To make a long story short, I reconnected with a family-friend from my hometown, who happens to be a superintendent at the school which I was eventually hired. We got together and began talking about my career path. When I happened to mention that my dream job would be in media production, his face lit up and he mentioned that they were trying to build a extensive media program, including a videoboard for their football stadium. It sounded like the perfect job for me, so I decided to slightly cut back on my running in order to study for my teacher's certification test.
Then in March, my grandma became very ill after she had fallen and broken her hip. Again, to make a long story short, I traveled every weekend for 4 weekends straight in order to spend time with her. This, in addition to my daily work schedule, teaching fitness class and studying for my certification program, led to a near stop in my running.
Luckily, it was worth it as my grandmother passed away 4 weeks after she fell, then I passed my certification test on my first try. However, it has taken a long time to get back in the groove. Not only do I have to start entirely over, but I have to make it part of my daily routine again, which is difficult.
Tomorrow I'll talk more about how I'm getting back into running, as well as how my lack of running has effected me.
It's good to be back!
Kristen
