My newest partner

Let me paint this picture for you: A few weeks ago I knew I needed to see a doctor. Training for the marathon had become really hard on my body and led to a few changes that occur when overtraining. But for some reason my body wasn't back to normal even a few months after the marathon and I needed a doctor to help me get back on track. I really thought I was getting fat and going crazy.

What I got was news that made me have this reaction. And everything made sense.

I had a new running partner on board for over 6 weeks :) My joy absolutely could not be contained! My husband and I had talked about having a baby, and the Lord delivered beyond our expectations!

While still at the doctor's office I immediately began looking up creative ways to tell my husband! It was the Monday before Valentine's Day, so I KNEW it had to be Valentine's themed!

I rushed to the nearest Target to buy a Valentine's card and two Valentine's onesies (one for a boy and one for a girl) and a red calendar where I drew a heart around the baby's due date and wrote "Baby's Birthday" in the middle of the heart :)

I barely got home before my husband! I ushered him into the kitchen where I had things set up and awaited his reaction. It took him a few seconds to put everything together, but once he did we hugged and cried...

then took a selfie of our surprised faces.

That night we decided to surprise our families with the news for Valentine's day!

So that Friday we decided to head off on our surprise weekend. But first, the we had an appointment for the baby's first sonogram!

Isn't it cute :) :)

Then we headed to the panhandle to surprise our families! First stop, my parents' house! My brother helped us time out our arrival to ensure he and my parents would be home at the same time. I wish I could have taken a picture of their sweet reactions when we told them :)

Then we celebrated with food

On Saturday we headed to surprise my husband's family. They were also really excited! Surprising people with the news was the best :)

It was also super fun to take a maternity picture :)

As of today I'm now 16 weeks, so we've know about the baby for 10 weeks! It's been a FAST 10 weeks! Our friends and family were so kind to respect our requests to keep it a secret until we were ready to tell everyone :) God's timing was perfect and we know our baby will be too!

  5. Congratulations to you and your family!!! I love the way you shared the news with your husband. I wasn't super creative with either of our pregnancies :s I found out I was pregnant with my first while training for a marathon, too! And then my second right after running a half and feeling "off" :)

I'm no veteran parent, but one piece of advice I will share is surround yourself with people who will ENCOURAGE you in this pregnancy and new parenting journey! I have heard so many negative things about pregnancy/birth/parenting but things have never turn out to be THAT bad. Each season has it's challenges but the joy of growing a new life and raising your child far outweighs any of the struggles! Trust God to carry you through any struggles and just keep thanking Him for that sweet little miracle!

    1. Thanks for your advice! You're speaking TRUTH! It's funny how people are so quick to share the negative things that happened to them, or their friends, or their friend's dogs during their pregnancy! But you're right, I know that the Lord will help me through the difficulties on this journey and that the baby is a sweet gift from Heaven!
